Jennie Pope, captain of ALTC Sarum team, was delighted to collect the Winter League (2017-2018 season) Division 2 trophy and the summer league (2018) Division 1 trophy at the recent AGM for the Sarum League in Salisbury.
It is 9 years since Andover won the summer division 1, so many congratulations are due to Jennie and her team .
Staff from John Hanson School recently visited the club to try mini-tennis on the outdoor courts.
It was an excellent afternoon - glorious autumn sunshine, mini tennis followed by a BBQ…
ALTC have a variety of teams (13 in total) in the Sarum League, Basingstoke & District League and H&IOW leagues. These include mens, ladies and mixed teams. We also have junior teams that play in the Aegon Junior League and the Basingstoke & District League. Matches take place at the weekends and weekday evenings. The teams cater for all levels of players.
Please contact info@altc.net, Trevor Blake or Martyn Isherwood if you are interested in participating and representing the club.
Please note, according to the League rules, only club members are permitted to play for the teams.
Congratulations to the Boys 14 and Under Team who have won the Hampshire Division 2 league this summer, being undefeated all season.
The team of Kyrill Kennett, Mark Mackie, Myles Cole, Jacob Simmonds and Jack Murn have all played really well and are a credit to Andover Tennis Club. Well done boys!
Each year, the Club organises a '100' club to raise funds for the new clubhouse. Please support your club - you could be a winner too.
For those of you unfamiliar with what a 100 Club is, it involves a payment of £12 per year which gives you a number for a year (you can have as many numbers as you like be it for yourself or family and friends) which will then be entered into a quarterly draw. There will be three cash prizes* drawn per quarter with 50% of ticket sales being paid out in prizes and 50% going to the club. The first quarterly draw will be on 1st July. Thereafter on 1st October, 1st January and 1st April.
* If 100 numbers are sold first prize would be £75, second £50 and third £25.
If you would like to support this fundraiser, please view and complete the form below or contact Jane Laborda - jane.laborda@hotmail.co.uk
The Club held a successful week of introducing tennis to many local children.
Tennis sessions were held in local schools followed by an Open Weekend at the Club.
During the Open Event, local primary school children (and parents) enjoyed a fun tennis session, with tennis games, inflatables and activities, in our indoor centre.
Many thanks to Phil, a British Tennis Coach, who visited local schools and organised the sessions at the club. Many of our tennis leaders helped on both days too and were all amaxing. Also, a big thank you goes to all the club volunteers who helped throughout the weekend.
The 14 and under team travelled to Swanmore on Sunday to play their second
Aegon League match this Summer.
With Mark Mackie injured, Jack Murn joined the team for his first league match and performed really well. Andover Boys beat Swanmore by 5 matches to 1. An excellent result. Well done boys.
Congratulations to the Club’s U14 boys team who recently beat Lee-on-Solent in their first match in the Aegon Hampshire Team Tennis U14 League. Well done Kyrill, Mark, Myles, and Jacob on a great performance.

Andover Tennis Club held their first Touchtennis event at their indoor Centre last Saturday. Touchtennis is a fast-growing adaption of the game of tennis, played with sponge balls over a small court. Players are allowed only one serve, there are no lets and a sudden death deuce is played. This makes the games move swiftly onwards. The sponge balls make the game exciting for all ages and abilities and mean that adults can compete with young players on an equal footing. The event was organised by Josh Gook and Ed Percival, new coaches at the club, who are both excellent competitors in this game and great supporters of it. 24 club members, ranging in age from 7 years to over 70 years took part in a great morning of fun and enjoyment. The competitors played doubles and were divided into 3 sections for a round robin challenge, followed by semi-finals and a final.

The floodlights are now in place for use on the outdoor courts.
The Committee would like to thank all the members for their co-operation during the installation and hope you enjoy the added facility to the outdoor courts.
Andover Tennis Club is delighted to welcome Josh Gook as our new head Coach for ALTC from January 2018.
His company, JGTennis, will be the coaching provider and Josh and Ed will be working with Martyn, George and Bash to provide all the coaching at ALTC for our adults, juniors, minis and schools.
Josh is a Level 3 Coach and is taking his Level 4 award in 2018. He is an excellent player and is a young man with great enthusiasm, drive, ideas and experience.
